FAQs

What should I wear to Yoga Class?

Wear clothes that are comfortable and stretch with the body. A fitted top or one that can be tucked in will be helpful for inversions. Shoes are not worn – yoga is done in bare feet. Please do not wear perfume or cologne as others in the room may be sensitive to the scent. We have dressing rooms at the studio if you need to change before or after class.

What do I need to bring?

If you have a yoga mat, bring it. If not, we have mats.  Eventually you will want to have your own mat, and it’s more hygienic to do so.  You may also want to bring a handtowel and water bottle, especially if you are coming to a Hot Yoga class.

How often should I practice yoga?

To build a strong practice, we recommend 3-5 times a week. 1-2 times a week will accomplish this goal, just over a longer period of time.

Should I take private lessons?

Private lessons are a great way to start yoga if you are a beginner. A private lesson can focus more on your specific body and show you how to better protect yourself, as well as strengthen yourself in a class setting. But, private lessons aren’t a pre-requisite! Many people just jump right in
to group classes!

What if I need to leave class early?

If you need to leave class early, we ask that you please leave before svasana (the last pose of class) and let the teacher know ahead of time.

I am not very flexible and/or I have poor balance. Can I do Yoga?

Yes! Increased flexibility and greater balance is a benefit of yoga, not a pre-requisite for starting. So, don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes. Come as you are, respect your limitations, and listen to the teacher’s modifications of poses. Most importantly, breathe and be!
